    Default Help Keep Socal3g.com Alive

Let's take a quick trip down memory lane. There was time when this site was averaging 3-5 thousands hits everyday. When it was not uncommon to have 3 or more meets a month. We had install meets, beach parties, trophies, member of the months. Hell, one year we gave the Evo's a run for their money at MOD. Who could forget the Mitsubishi Fuso? Or there LA meet that had over hundred 3rd gens? We made a huge mark on the Mitsubishi car scene. We defined what a car club should be. But as the 3rd gen got older, or wrecked, or went KABOOM, this club has fizzeled. I'm not sure you can even call it a club anymore. Now it's just a website with some of the best 3rd gen information on the web. Sure some of us still check in from time to time, but most of us have moved on to different cars, grown up, got married, had kids......

Well after years of banked funds paying for the hosting of this site. "Club money" has run out. In order for site to stay up and running I'm asking some of the OG's, the Die Hards, to pitch in a $20 spot to keep the site alive. I got the first $20. If 8 more of us pitch in were covered for the rest of the year. If more pitch in I'll just put the money toward the following year. The "Club" doesn't have much or anything to give back at this time. But I'm open to suggestion. I'll do what I can. This site has always been and what I hope remains to be ad free. Our views are never swayed or tainted by the dollar sign. I would prefer to keep this site sponsor free.

If you could support SoCal3g.com and keep the site alive, I know that more then just myself would be grateful. Post up, or message me if you would care to donate.

    Sincerely,
    mOe
    Long Live the 3rd Gen!!!!!

p.s. I know the club has a paypal account but I don't have any of the info. I'm waiting for the old treasure to get back to me. Yes at one point we had to have a treasurer.

If we can get the paypal information it might be a good idea to setup some sort of "donating member" user group possibly within the forums. I know some forum software allows stuff like this to be created and setting it to a $20/year subscription would be fine and also create some revenue to help with site funding.

I have also been curious about doing some articles or features on the main portal, give the community some content to read and even reach out to some vendors for giveaways or something to build the active community once again. Without keeping the interest it is hard to keep a site and club alive, but there are a few here that can and have really contributed to the platform's growth as well as helping other owners.

Socal3G flyers/cards is another way to draw in new owners, I remember the Washington Eclipse Club on Facebook did something like this and I believe a few others use the same method with good results....keeping the owners active within the community is the tricky part, but as I said above...keep the interest and draw them back each time and this group will flourish once again

So uhhh..... I was one of the founding members of the Washington Eclipse Club. It like quadrupled in size after I got involved, and it's still around last I checked. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be involved in something like that again. Stickers/decals & cards was a great way to spread the word and stay active. The monthly get togethers is also another fantastic idea to keep the community together. Like I said, I'll help out in as many ways as I can.

    thanks people.

JG, you might not be an OG but you are a die hard. Hell your probably one of the most die hards out there right now.

And Matt your mivec work and other ventures are incredible and amazing to watch. Latley your work has been part of my inspiration to push forward on my own car.

Matt 2k2 - Hommie till the end. You know where you stand in my book.

There are some options for subscriptions on the forum. Not sure how to set them up. We've always had someone to take care of that stuff. I guess i better starting learing how to do this ish. In the mean time if you could paypal m m n j a c k @ a o l . c o m we could keep this place alive.

I'll also get started on some invite cards. We used to have them back in the day.

    thank you all in advance.

$20 spot sent. You know I definitely wanna keep this club alive.. Moe, I'm glad you followed up on my efforts. I still have some of the old invite cards with the picture of the whole club at the annual BBQ from around 2008/09. That meet was epic!

I've been apart of this club since June 2007. We've been through A LOT. We've had massive meets, event domination, world domination, DJ party in a fuso, shenanigans, and God know's what else we've done (and the trouble we've gotten ourselves into and out of, haha). The 3g has been decommissioned for almost 10 years now. During that time, and just as Moe pointed out in the OP, people have come and gone, cars have survived and retired, marriage, family, etc. We have cars, motorcycles, trucks, and all other sorts of two and four wheeled vehicles now.

I see this as a turning point and a positive one at that. Though the club started off as a specific club geared towards a unique platform, it's time we maybe consider changing the focus of the club. Together, we're more than a club; we're family. The core will always consist of those people. From Founding Members to OG's, people are still around. People come and go and you really can't change that. Now is the time, I think, we should consider changing the focus and direction of the club. Now is the time to focus on a more broad range and a fresh start. We need to focus more on the enthusiast market as a whole area instead of a unique platform. Bring enthusiasts to a site where all those interested in aftermarket can come and enjoy themselves. We all share a common goal and interest. It doesn't, nor should it ever really, matter what you drive.

The goal? Become one of the SoCal (maybe another form of world dominaton?) forums/club you'll want to know about. It's not a fast start nor an easy one, but a start nonetheless in the direction we need to go. A direction I think we need to go. That's how I see it. Obviously it's easier said than done but everything has to start somewhere. My .02 cents.
"We have become part of something much more complicated then you will or I will ever fully comprehend. We build more then just cars...we build friendships, we build futures, we build our dreams. We drive our imports low and hold our heads high because we have an unwritten and unspoken agreement that we will live life to the fullest and never call victim to 'the norm.' Others laugh at us when we spend money, hours, days, weeks, months, and years working on our cars, but yet they shake our hands when we are done."

Now THIS is something I'd LOVE to be a part of. Wherever this club/family takes us, even though I'm probably the newest one here, you can definitely count me in. Lord knows I'm crazy enough haha.

$20 sent, hate to see the club completely disappear. I know I come and go a lot on here and not really an active member as much as I would like to be. Were united by the 3G here doesn't matter what we drive now the friendships built here are lasting ones. I still remember finding an invite on my car given to me by Chris and Sarah.
